Ingredients & Quality

What wax do you use?

Our candle collections primarily use quality soy wax selected for excellent scent throw, smooth finishes, and beautiful performance.

What fragrance oils do you use?

We primarily use thoughtfully selected CandleScience fragrance oils.

Many of the fragrances we use are part of CandleScience's CleanScents® or CleanScents+ programs.

CandleScience fragrances are:

  • Vegan
  • Cruelty-Free
  • Formulated without phthalates
  • Formulated without ingredients found on California Proposition 65 lists

Do you use natural ingredients?

Many Harbor Morning products contain naturally derived ingredients including:

  • Soy Wax
  • Beeswax
  • Tallow
  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Arrowroot Powder

Ingredients vary by product. Please review individual product descriptions for complete ingredient information.

Is your tallow gluten-free?

Yes. The tallow used in Harbor Morning products is naturally gluten-free and sourced from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef.

What is shea butter?

Shea butter is a rich, plant-based ingredient traditionally used to help condition and moisturize the skin.

What is jojoba oil?

Jojoba oil is a lightweight plant-based oil valued for its smooth feel and ability to moisturize without feeling overly heavy.

Why do you focus so much on ingredients?

Because we use these products ourselves.

We've spent countless hours researching ingredients, testing products, and selecting materials that align with our values of quality, simplicity, and craftsmanship.

We believe customers deserve to know what goes into the products they bring into their homes.

Candle Care:

How long should I burn my candle?

For the first burn, allow the wax melt pool to reach the edges of the container whenever possible. This helps promote an even burn and reduces tunneling.

Most burns should last between 2-4 hours.

Should I trim my wick?

Yes.

Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch.

This helps:

  • Reduce soot
  • Improve flame stability
  • Extend candle life
  • Promote cleaner burning

Why is my candle tunneling?

Tunneling usually occurs when a candle is extinguished before the wax has melted fully across the top surface.

Allowing the melt pool to reach the edges during early burns helps prevent tunneling.

Why is my candle producing soot?

Small amounts of soot can occur with any candle.

To minimize soot:

  • Trim wick to 1/4 inch
  • Keep away from drafts
  • Avoid burning longer than 4 hours at a time
  • Keep candle free of debris

Why does my candle have frosting?

Frosting is a natural characteristic of soy wax and may appear as white crystal-like patterns on the wax surface.

This does not affect performance and is often considered a sign of natural soy wax.

Why does my candle look uneven after cooling?

Natural waxes sometimes cool differently depending on room temperature and seasonal conditions. Minor cosmetic variations are normal and do not affect performance.

Why doesn't my candle smell strong before burning?

Cold throw and hot throw are different. Some fragrances become significantly stronger once the candle is lit and the wax begins warming.

What should I do if my candle won't stay lit?

First trim the wick and remove any mushrooming or carbon buildup.

If the problem continues, contact us and we'll be happy to help troubleshoot.

Wax Melts & Reed Diffusers:

How do I use wax melts?

Place one or more wax melt cubes into an approved wax warmer.

Do not add water.

Do not place wax melts directly on a stovetop or open flame.

How long do wax melts last?

This varies by fragrance and warmer type, but most customers enjoy multiple warming sessions from each cube.

How do I use a reed diffuser?

Remove the stopper and insert the reeds into the diffuser bottle.

Allow the reeds several hours to absorb fragrance.

Flip reeds periodically for a stronger scent experience.

How long do reed diffusers last?

Most diffusers provide fragrance for several months depending on room conditions, air flow, and the number of reeds used.

Lip Balms & Body Balms:

How do I use Harbor Morning Lip Balm?

Apply a small amount to lips as needed throughout the day.

Store in a cool, dry location.

How do I use Harbor Morning Hand & Body Balm?

A little goes a long way.

Apply a small amount to dry areas and massage into the skin.

Our balms are especially popular for:

Why does my balm feel firm?

Natural balms may become firmer in cooler temperatures and softer in warmer temperatures.

This is normal and expected.

Why does my balm have a grainy texture?

Natural ingredients such as shea butter occasionally develop a slight grainy texture due to temperature fluctuations.

This does not affect quality or performance.

Gifts & Custom Orders:

Do you offer gift boxes?

Yes. Harbor Morning offers gift-ready options for birthdays, holidays, thank-you gifts, housewarmings, client gifts, and special occasions.

Can I include a personal note?

How long will my order take?

Many Harbor Morning products are handcrafted to order.

Processing times may vary depending on order size, product availability, seasonal demand, and customization requests.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. We currently ship throughout the United States.

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes, but availability varies. Contact us for current options. (Locals, this is a GREAT way to save on shipping!)

What happens if my package arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible and include photographs if possible. We'll work with you to make things right.

Can weather affect shipping?

Yes.

Severe weather events such as hurricanes, tropical storms, snowstorms, flooding, and other major events can occasionally delay carriers and transportation networks.

We appreciate your patience during circumstances outside our control.

Can a first responder schedule affect processing times?

Occasionally.

Harbor Morning is proudly first responder owned and operated. While we work hard to maintain consistent processing times, emergency service responsibilities, major incidents, weather events, and public safety needs may occasionally impact production schedules.

Why did you start Harbor Morning?

Harbor Morning began with a simple idea:

Create the kinds of coastal products we wanted to find ourselves.

For years, we loved coastal living, beach towns, waterfront communities, family vacations, and the memories that come with them. But many of the products we found felt generic, overly artificial, or designed around what someone else thought coastal should be.

We wanted something different.

We wanted fragrances that felt like real coastal memories.

We wanted products inspired by places we actually loved.

We wanted unique coastal candles and products that reflected our own experiences, not what someone else wanted us to like.

Most of all, we wanted to create the kinds of products we would proudly use in our own homes.

So we started creating them ourselves.

Today, Harbor Morning combines Rhode Island roots, Florida inspiration, thoughtfully selected ingredients, handcrafted products, and a passion for creating meaningful experiences through scent.
